In the daily practice of their activity, the herdsmen (gardians and manadiers) of Camargue have no imposed dress code. However, they most often wear the colorful patterned shirt known as the Camargue shirt and the wide-brimmed hat or Valergues imposed by the Marquis de Baroncelli when he founded the Nacioun Gardiano in 1909.
