The Interpretation Center of the Battle of Alésia is a building 170 ft (52 m) in diameter, entirely glazed over five levels and covered with larch wood reminiscent of Roman military works. Designed by the Swiss Bernard Tschumi, it benefits from an Haute Qualité Environnementale (High Environmental Quality) label. A circular helicoidal ramp leads to the large exhibition hall on the first floor, while the second floor houses an auditorium and is surmounted by a green terrace. It offers a 360° view of the battlefield that saw the armies of Vercingétorix and Julius Caesar face each other in 52 BC.
