A very limited navigation speed

Navigation on the rivers and canals of Burgundy is based above all on common sense but still requires constant attention. It is authorized for boats without a license and therefore for novice boaters thanks to its very strict speed limits which also allow them to fully enjoy the landscapes. The maximum authorized speed is indeed 3.1 to 4.9 miles / h (5 to 8 km / h) on the canals and 6.2 to 7.4 miles / h (10 to 12 km / h) on the rivers notably to preserve the state of the banks. On certain sections and near the ports, it may still be lower and announced by a specific signage.
