Located about 25 miles (40 km) South-West of Clermont-Ferrand, on the ‘road with the 1000 bends’ which connects Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise to the Mont-Dore resort via the Croix-Saint-Robert pass, the Chaudefour valley is hidden behind a rock barrier. Classified as a National Nature Reserve in 1991, the valley is accessible only by a stony track or one of the numerous hiking trails. The Chaudefour valley possesses a great diversity of natural environments, thanks to a triple climatic influence (oceanic, continental and Mediterranean).
