Stemming from a long history of woodturning and toy industry, the southern Jura region hosts a Toy Museum which bears witness to this reality. From 1850, the whole region specialized in woodturning with a wide variety of turned objects which allowed each municipality to assert itself with a particular product : skittles, spinning tops, whistles… If subsequently the manufacture of wood toys, has been gradually replaced by plastics and relocated to low-wage countries in Asia or Eastern Europe, the region and its master craftsmen still proudly carry this tradition of toys and wooden articles.
