Just like Amédée Rosier with his painting Fishing mussels at low tide around Trouville in 1868, the painters of the 19th century put Norman mussels in the spotlight. Many people do not hesitate to pick them up at the foot of the cliffs as soon as the sea discovers the rocks. The harvest is limited to 11 lbs (5 kg) per person with a minimum size of 1.60 inches (4 cm). Numerous restaurants offer tastings, and the stalls of Trouville's fish market are filled with them.
