The Tour Madeloc (Madeloc tower) is a 13th-century watchtower sitting above the town of Collioure in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. The old structure is perched 2,132 ft (650 m) high in the Albères massif, just a few miles from the coast. The Tour Madeloc stands on a rocky ridge that marks the boundary between the municipalities of Collioure and Port-Vendres. Erected under James II, King of Majorca and Count of Roussillon, the tower helped protect his territory from Moorish naval raids.
