In the 18th century, the pompous style of the reign of Louis XIV was abandoned. Comfort was preferred to pomp and circumstance, as in the Château du Haut de Villarceaux, where running water was installed. A certain refinement emerged and the women of the nobility demanded boudoirs for intimate moments, alone or accompanied. Harmony reigns in this small boudoir in the Château du Haut. A Chinese-inspired silk hanging recalls the pottery, plates and vases that the East India Company imported from China and Japan. A marble and wood console by the cabinetmaker Nicolas Heurtaut (1720-1771) completes the decoration.
