A land of impressionists

From 1860, Claude Monet frequented painters who would soon be known as Impressionists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Frédéric Bazille, Paul Cézanne or Camille Pissarro. They all based their paintings on light and shade and most often worked outdoors. In 2009, the Impressionnismes Giverny Museum was created next to the house and gardens of Claude Monet. It is managed by the Fondation Claude Monet.
