An ancient technique

The first traces of glassblowing – found in the Middle East – date back to 75-50 BC. This ancient technique involved blowing air through the mouth into molten glass via a long hollow rod. A bubble or “post” is formed in the glass. There are two different methods of blowing: fixed blowing in a mould which prints patterns on the bubble (used for mass-produced glass) and turned blowing (for objects without decoration). Both methods require a lot of experience before they are fully successful.
