A statue by Donald De Lue

0
On a platform immediately west of the colonnade of the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial of Colleville-sur-Mer stands a 15-ft (7 m) high bronze statue. It symbolizes The Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves. Around its base, visitors can read: My eyes have seen the divine glory of the Lord. It was selected among seventeen sketches presented to the American authorities by the sculptor Donald De Lue, a native of New York City. The statue was cast in bronze by the Battaglia foundry in Italy.
