A subspecies arrived from Switzerland

The lynxes present in the Jura come from individuals released in Switzerland in the 1970s. They are Carpathian lynxes (Lynx lynx carpathicus), a slightly smaller subspecies of the Eurasian lynx. Their fur, dense on the back, from cream to dark brown, is dotted with black solid spots or rosettes. Their eyes are edged in white and underlined with a line of black that runs down their cheeks. Triangular ears are surmounted by a tuft of black hair specific to the lynx. The Carpathian lynx live for about 15 years in the wild.
