An Alpine and Mediterranean river
0
0
The Durance is both an Alpine and a Mediterranean river. In its upper part, up to Lac de Serre-Ponçon, it drains a valley of varying width surrounded by high mountains replaced by increasingly vast plateaus in its middle part. The Durance finally widens in its lower part into an alluvial plain that can reach several kilometers in width.
