Lake Madine has become, ever since its creation, a favorable site for the wintering of aquatic birds. Birds of prey that depend on wetlands, such as the osprey (Pandion haliaetus) and the harrier (Circus aeruginosus), are numerous in the lake. From September to April, over the autumn migrations, wintering and spring migrations, Grebes (Larus ridibundus), swans (cygnus), mallards (Bucephala clangula) and many others also choose Lake Madine. Each year, from October 15th, the extension of the quiet zones to the south of the lake assures the tranquility of the migrating and wintering water birds.
