An old and authentic rum distillery
0
0
Ranked among the smallest production units in Martinique, the Depaz distillery is nonetheless considered one of the finest rum distilleries on the island. Installed in an imposing setting, at the foot of Mount Pelée and on the edge of the Baie de Saint-Pierre, it was completely destroyed during the volcanic eruption of May 8, 1902, before being rebuilt fifteen years later by Victor Depaz and his descendants. With its mansion (Château Delpaz), its hectares of sugar cane plantations, its hydraulic supply network connected to the Roxelane, its waterwheel, and all the production buildings necessary for distillation, it constitutes today one of the oldest and most authentic cultural and production sites in Martinique.
