Christian Dior lived at the Les Rhumbs villa until the age of 6 and later returned there every summer until 1930. He was fond of botany, reading gardening manuals and memorizing the flowers' names. He arranged the pool and the pergola while his mother Madeleine planted roses, including the Granville rose famous for its fragrance. The crisis of 1929 damaged Dior's parents' finances, and the villa was sold to the city.
