The National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve of Lake Madine was created in 1998 and was entrusted with regulating its biodiversity. The area dedicated to the lake occupies 4,252 acres (1721 ha) and is managed by the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS).
