Madine Lake stretches within the Lorraine Regional Nature Park that extends over the Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle departments. It constitutes one of the most sensitive and protected natural areas in the region. The park is classified as a ZPS (Special Protection Zone) and a ZICO (Zone for the Conversation of Birds). Also recognized as a Zone of Ecological, Faunistic, and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF), its biological richness makes it a Natura 2000 classified site.
