The Pays de Bray is a region covered with green bocages, hills, valleys, and forests, whose economic capital is Neufchâtel-en-Bray. Of Gallo-Roman origin, the Norman city was then called Novientum. It became an important town in the 9th century as it marked the boundary between the Kingdoms of England and France. Many pasture plots remind visitors that the Pays de Bray is also the country of Neufchâtel cheese, often considered the oldest in France (1035).
