A region adopted by storks

The Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park, where Carentan-les-Marais is located, welcomes more and more storks every spring. Nearly 120 pairs have been counted in the Manche department and 325 throughout Normandy. They nest on suitable perches but are also found in the heights of the ruins of the castle of Saint-Fromond, where 70 specimens have settled. Some storks even winter and no longer migrate to Sub-Saharan Africa. The Norman Ornithological Group (Gonm) actively monitors them in partnership with the Natura 2000 network.
