Pastures constitute the main source of food for the Camargue cattle herds. However, the quality of the grass varies greatly from one meadow to another. The joint effect of the increase of artificial soils and the protection of some natural spaces also produces a shortage of pastures. This deficit results in more significant use of fodder in some herds. The hay used to feed the bulls is directly produced on the meadows of the manade or purchased.
