A breed selected for racing

With rare exceptions, reproduction in Camargue bull herds takes place by natural mounting. Breeding bulls are either youngsters from promising lines or older males with proven track records. In a few cases, bulls active in Camargue racing have a parallel breeding career. Services usually take place in late spring and early summer to induce births in winter or early spring. Newborns are weaned together in the fall by being placed in a fenced meadow away from their mothers for a few weeks.
