In the middle of the 20th century, the Comtois horse returned to the forefront of the national scene and made its entry into the breed nomenclatures. Its elegant coat has largely contributed to its success as a leisure horse as well as to the fashion phenomenon that accompanies it. Its rather flattering washed-horsehair bay color has earned it the ability to be staged at shows and used to pull horse-drawn carriages for tourists or at weddings.
