A breed characterized by two coats
0
0
Only two coats are registered in France and Great Britain for the Percheron breed: gray or black coats. The American registry is broader and also allows the registration of roan, bay, and chestnut horses. White markings on the head and legs are acceptable, provided their number and extent are limited. Foals are all born black, and most of them turn gray or even white from the age of six months. Jet black and very dappled gray - that is to say as if covered with small white clouds - are the most popular coats in France.
