A breed born for running in the wild

Pierre Daniel, a musher near Septmoncel les Molunes in the Jura department, has chosen to live in a wooden house that he built himself with his pack of 23 huskies. The Hautes Combes are snow-covered in winter, and the surrounding forests are ideal for sleigh rides. They constitute a real delight for huskies who were born to run in the wild. Their heart can beat at 200 beats per minute (a marathon runner's heart beats at 120 beats per minute), and their speed often reaches 18-12 mph (30-35 km/h).
