A matter of patience and durability

The Cornille-Havard workshops have been in Villedieu-les-Poêles since 1865, but their foundry tradition dates back to the 16th century. We find mention of the Havard family in old lists inventorying craftsmen at the end of the Middle Ages. Durability and patience are key parameters to persist as a bell founder and craft a bell. A mold can be built in two months, the decoration of a bell in wax elements in several weeks, and the cooling of the cast bell may require several days.
