The wind turbines that can be seen in the background of this photo of the Monts Dore remind us that the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is the region that produces the most electricity and renewable energy in France and is the second biggest consumer of electricity. Its energy production was 119 TWh (Terawatt per hour) in 2019, of which 23.3% (27.8 TWh) came from renewable energies. In 2019, the wind production increased by 10% compared to 2018.
