The Caravelle peninsula has unique biodiversity, landscapes, and viewpoints that attract some 200,000 visitors per year. Managed by the Martinique Regional Nature Park of which it is part, it is subject to a number of protective measures. Thus, if the access to the two discovery trails of the peninsula is free and costless, that to the nature reserve of 959 acres (388 ha) which occupies the tip of the island is regulated. Guided tours are even provided on request by the reserve's rangers. As for visits in groups of more than thirty people, they must be the subject of a prior request to the park to avoid the over-frequentation of this site with a high heritage value.
