On race day, the bulls are encocardés (equipped with attributes), arrive at the arena, and are locked in the toril (bullpen). As bulls from different herds are not to be mixed, they are locked up separately in stalls and usually accompanied by a person from their manade (herd) to keep them company. The torils that welcome the bulls of Camargue races must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between each event.
