Seine fishing is an age-old technique that enables catching fish at the surface from the beach by encircling them with a net. The length of the net, called senne or seine, varies between 328 and 1,968 ft (100 and 600 m) for a depth of 13 ft (4 m). This artisanal practice consists of wetting the net from a boat facing the beach and then pulling it with the fish onto the shore using the strength of the arms of the group of fishermen. The net mounted on two ropes is weighted on the side intended to be submerged and equipped with floats on its emerging part.
