Pink flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) are numerous at the Salins d'Hyères, in the Var department. They are present all year round in the Salin des Pesquiers and for much of the year in the Vieux Salins that they desert from May to August. The wintering population controlled in mid-January is stable from one year to the next and fluctuates between 800 and 850 birds that return each winter.
