Larger than the other islands of the Hyères archipelago, Porquerolles is also the most populated of the three Îles d'Or (Golden Islands). in winter, it has about 350 inhabitants settled in the island's small village near the port sheltered from the east wind. Porquerolles' population is multiplied by fifty in summer, and the island welcomes 15,000 daily visitors in July and August, not to mention some 1,500 boats anchored in front of the beaches or in the creeks of this protected site.
