Located at 14° 23′ 51″ of north latitude and 60° 52′ 38″ of west longitude, Pointe des Salines is a rocky cape in the municipality of Sainte-Anne, in the very south of Martinique. It forms with Pointe Pie the two ends of the Grande Anse des Salines which it borders to the east, separating the Étang des Salines (Salines pond) from the sea and facing the Cabrits islet. Unlike the renowned beach of Anse des Salines, which is well protected from the prevailing winds and the Atlantic swell, Pointe des Salines is subject to powerful currents that make swimming dangerous.
