At Varengeville-sur-Mer, near Dieppe in the Seine-Maritime department, the GR21 hiking trail zigzags down to the valleuse (dip opening onto the sea) of Moustiers over 328 ft (100 m). Unlike other towns on the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast), the locality has remained on the heights of the cliffs, and the beaches below it have remained particularly wild. The absence of resort structures has left them as they have always been, and the area inspired poets and painters like Claude Monet.
