A portrait of Christian Dior greets visitors on the stairs of his childhood villa in Granville. He lived there for six years and spent his summers among the flowers of the garden, for which he developed a passion inherited from his mother. Painting, music, and drawing quickly became other passions. In 1935, Dior sold his first sketches of dresses and hats and entered the world of fashion. A meeting with Marcel Boussac, who spotted his talent, allowed him to open his first Maison de Couture on Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1946. Within eleven years, he established his brand in 15 countries and employed nearly 2,000 people.
