René Lalique found his favorite field of expression when Art Déco replaced Art Nouveau in the 1910s. He brought art into ordinary objects as never before. Lalique created numerous vases, cups, candlesticks, or perfume bottles. He also designed radiator caps for the Citroën 5 CV (1925), decorations for the dining cars of the Orient Express (1929), adornments for the 1st class dining room of the SS Normandie liner (1936), and fountains on the Champs-Élysées.
