Part of Marseille's maritime heritage

The barquette marseillaise is a significant element of Marseille's maritime heritage. This wooden boat traditionally used for coastal fishing is still clearly visible in the ports of the city, over which it has reigned for more than a century. Having become the link between professional fishing and a growing leisure appeal, it benefits from a renewed popular interest materialized by its appearance in wide-ranged television series (Plus belle la vie, Le Tuteur) based in Marseille.
