The castle of Brégançon stands on a promontory in the locality of Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var department, facing the islands of Porquerolles and Port-Cros. It was erected at the beginning of the 18th century on a former Marquisate whose eponymous fort, which became the holiday residence of the presidents of the French Republic in 1968, was the fiefdom. It is surrounded by 104 acres (42 ha) of vineyards adjoining the castle.
