In 52 BC, the armies of Vercingetorix and Julius Caesar faced each other in Alésia, today Alise-Sainte-Reine in the Côte-d'Or department. Since 2012, the MuseoParc Alésia has settled not far from the gigantic statue of the Gallic chief, erected by Napoleon III in 1865 over the battlefield to the west of Mont Auxois. Through reconstitutions of war machines or explanations of the combat techniques used by Roman legionnaires, the MuseoParc takes the public back to a significant page of Gallic and national history.
