A new fishing technique to protect the whales
0
0
Each year, entanglement in fishing gear kills 300,000 whales worldwide. To put an end to this phenomenon, Canadian companies have teamed up to create a netless fishing technology. This new technique consists of dropping the traps in the water and finding them using an acoustic signal. Inflatable pockets are triggered once the trap is filled with fish. This technique, which uses no rope, could allow the survival of several dozen whales.
