A relatively low level of snow

Despite what this photo taken in the middle of winter might suggest, Dole and its region benefit from a rather mild semi-continental climate where the level of snow - estimated at a fortnight per year - is relatively low compared to that of Haut-Jura. On the other hand, the city is strongly exposed to fog in winter. The annual thermal amplitude of this city located in the Bas-Jura at an average altitude of 731 feet (223 m) is, for it part, rather strong with around 86°F (30°C).
