At Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque, between Pont-Audemer and Le Banc Blanc, the downstream of the Risle valley mainly consists of wet meadows for part of the year. The clayey and loamy underground soils create numerous ditches and ponds that constitute meeting points for marine and continental environments. The wet meadows of the area are mainly dedicated to mowing and grazing. Hedges of white willows (Salix alba), pruned into tadpoles, give them a Norman bocage appearance.
