Bench lathes are machines which stand out for their simplicity adapted to their relatively limited mechanical effort. They consist of a frame - in cast iron as here or in welded sheet -, a fixed headstock comprising the electric motor, a gearbox with a stepped pulley and toothed pinions or a variator, a spindle supporting a mandrel or a lug point, a bench with two flat slides, a tool holder and a tailstock.
