Since their creation, the Camargue races have experienced several periods of prohibition, whether for public disorder or dangerousness. However, they changed status during the 20th century and became part of festive traditions. From the 1930s, the bull became a popular hero and the emblem of the Camargue region. The cockade bulls participating in the races are the true stars of the show and the best of them win trophies and are considered legends, long before the raseteurs.
