Located between the Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales departments, the Salses-Leucate lagoon is the second largest in the Occitanie region. The pond is an average of 7 feet (2 meters) deep. Center of an abundant shellfish farming activity since 1963, the Salses-Leucate lagoon produces more than 600 tonnes of oysters per year. In addition to these activities, the pond of Leucate is also renowned for many water hobbies such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, etc.
