Nouria Newman, born in Chambéry in 1991, is a French kayaker who practices both slalom and extreme kayaking while being internationally known as a pioneer in expedition kayaking on hostile rivers. Triple world champion in extreme kayaking (2013, 2014, 2017), she was in 2014 the first woman to descend the V / V+ rapids of the Stikine's Grand Canyon. She has since descended the Tsarap and Zanskar rivers in Ladakh for 233 miles (375 km) solo and made several world-first descents in Patagonia with Ben Stookesberry and Eric Boomer as well as in Quebec on the Caopacho River with the group of the Quebec Connection kayakers.
