According to paleontologist Laure Danilo, 92% of the current Przevalski horses suffer from a malformation of the skull bones. It is responsible for an asymmetry leading to the non-alignment of the teeth and de facto reducing their life expectancy by half. The distribution of the herd into small groups of horses isolated from each other is urgently needed to reduce the strong consanguinity at the origin of this degeneration.
