A high place of tourism because of its cultural influence, its historical heritage, and its numerous art galleries, Saint-Paul-de-Vence had 3,324 inhabitants in 2018 against only 750 a century earlier. The town's population experienced a dramatic increase in the 19th century when artists and celebrities began to frequent the village. It kept increasing steadily by extending to the heights beyond the ramparts of the historic city. Today, Saint-Paul-de-Vence has a population density of 458 inhabitants per square kilometer.
