An island open onto the Caribbean Sea

0
Located on the west coast of Martinique, the gray sand beach of Le Carbet opens wide onto the Caribbean Sea. This sea is a sea of the Atlantic Ocean that, for its part, washes the east coast of Martinique. It communicates with it directly to the east and beyond the easternmost islands of the Lesser Antilles, through the Windward Passage and the Mona Channel to the north and the Columbus Channel to the southeast. It covers an area of 1,640,421 square miles (2,640,002 km²) from eastern Central America to the southern Greater Antilles. It takes its name from the Caribs, the Native American people who inhabited the region until the Spanish invasion in the 15th century.
