With the fashion for sea baths, villas proliferated by the Norman sea. At the start of the 20th century, many architects offered opulent villas with a floor reserved for staff, a park, and a tennis court. Their architecture varies according to the whim of the owner. Villas in Chinese, Greek, Arabic, medieval, or Neo-Norman styles with timber are still visible today on the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast). The objective was to be seen and be able to continue to do business in a privileged place. Many writers, politicians, painters, sculptors, and actors appreciate the setting and the tranquility of the Normandy cliffs so close to the capital.
